The average Scot does not start considering the health of their heart until they are approaching 50, researchers have found.

Experts believe 48 years old is the tipping point to considering heart health. But nearly half of the 2,000 people surveyed admit they will only do so when they experience breathlessness or have a major heart health scare, according to reasearch by Fruitflow+ Omega-3.

Dr Niamh O’Kennedy, of Aberdeen University, said:

‘It’s shocking that people don’t consider their heart health until halfway through their lives.’
